Alan T |
South
Beach boasts a nightlife scene like no other in the
world, featuring a cast of locals dressed in drama and
accessorized with attitude for days (which often comes
in handy while they’re waiting for success). Alan
T.* has always carried more than his share of attitude,
and it has seemed that his dialogue flowed freely before
the other characters had been cast. His spotlight followed
him always, allowing him to perform whether he happened
to be on the street, in a club, in his apartment, or
even on someone’s answering machine. When producer
Mike “DaMooch” Mucci heard the ranting and
raving craziness left as a message and created the single
“Come & Get It,” (SFP Records) which
became an instant sensation at Liquid and other clubs.
Suddenly Alan’s spotlight became a reality. Seeing
that he had possibly found another Cevin Fisher (King
of Spoken Word), Circuit Boy took his new discovery
to the studio. Armed with his attitude and kinetic rapid-fire
dialogue, Alan filled the studio with the words, and
“The Door”was created. In ’98 the
South Beach club scene seemed to sizzle, nurturing DJs
who would eventually become stars. These DJs grabbed
“The Door” and threw it out nightly for
the enjoyment of the crowds that packed clubs like Liquid
and Salvation. Audiences screamed when Alan said “There’s
no Tina on our list,” making the phrase as hot
as the song.
Alan made the club scene his stage and performed in
every venue in Miami, whether they had scheduled him
or not, then hit the New York scene, performing in clubs
like Twilo and Vinyl. Europe was his next stop, where
he slung his attitude and dialogue at clubs including
the renowned club Muccasassina in Rome. “I performed
in any dark dungeon where cutting edge music was played,
“said Alan. As always, he created a show whether
anyone was really looking or not, but more often than
not the audience was riveted.
DJ JoJo Odyssey was the first to play one of Alan’s
singles, at Mykel Stevens’ Back Door Bamby, then
at Groove Jet. That first release became a hit and suddenly
phone calls and e-mails from all over the world were
voicing their praise. When “The Door” was
released, renowned DJ Danny Tenaglia e-mailed Alan with
the message, “the record should be everywhere”
and continued to give his support to Alan. Now “The
Door” is considered a DJ staple and a classic.
Now audiences await the highly anticipated late August
release of the Danny Tenaglia edit of “The Door”
is considered a DJ staple and a classic. Now audiences
await the highly anticipated late August release of
the Danny Tenaglia remix of “The Door,”
available on S.F.P. Records.
Producers and DJs agree that the newly christened Alan
T.* has earned the label “fierce,” and he
continues to throw attitude even while performing. Don’t
stand in his spotlight, for the world is his stage.
Tossing aside his career as an architect, Alan says
“the universe has allowed my true love to become
a career.”
