| Member of Disco Kidz, Dealer de Funk and Superfunk - whose album is available through Fiat Lux (Labels/Virgin) - Fafa Monteco started his career on the radio in Marseilles, where he played first funk, then hip-hop and eventually house. Of these three styles he managed to keep the idea of a party spirit and the magic of dancing, putting these ideas in practice in his solo projects and group work. Artist on the Black Jack label, Fafa Monteco adores working in his home studio. DJing is also an important way for him to express his diverse tastes. "Up until now too many DJs have stuck to just one style, he says. The mark of a good DJ nowadays is to know how to move from one style to another, and when. I think we are going to see the return of the DJ who is jack-of-all-trades, but in the good sense of the word. Someone who can play funk then hip-hop, house then techno, but also know to go from downtempo tracks to drum'n' bass at the right moment. DJs have a lot less boundaries now, especially as there are more and more tracks with different mixes of influences. Techno-rock, trip-hop and jazz, house and hip-hip, there's load of examples…" Looking for quality and a return to an underground sound, Fafa Monteco likes working alone or with other producers. Expect a surprising mix of sounds in his next releases. Own Labels:
