Maurizio Ruggiero

He first started opening for local Djs in Opium (Miami) while on sundays he was closing the INDIOLOCO @ Nikki Beach party. After one year of spinning and thanks to the support shown by the local crowd he started to play as main DJ Fridays at Opium(PRIVE'), Wednesday at BED, Sundays at INDIOLOCO @ NIKKI and Saturdays at the new mega club MANSION making him on the of the fastest growing house DJ in south beach Miami.

Maurizio also spun at one of the biggest events in 2003, MICHAEL CAPPONI BIRTHDAY PARTY that was held in the BAHAMAS at NYGARD CAY, were more then 2000 people attended in an incredible tropical scenario.
During his residencies also shared his turntables with talent DJs Hernan Cattaneo,Desyn Masiello,Pete tha Zouk, Layo and Bushwaka, Robbie Rivera, Antoine Clamaran,D-fuse,Jimmy Van M, Nico De Ceglia from BBC ONE and Ministry of sound radio, Black Legend,Wally Lopez.

Maurizio's target is to share his positive message and energy trough his sexy and groovy blend of house music with tribal and progressive elements, for as long as he can and to continue to make crowds enthusiast interacting with them.
But more important for him is to make people have fun and put apart for a while their real life problems and their worries.

THE PRODUCER

Coming from a family of Italian musicians he was often digging in one of his uncle 45'' vinil's selection at Granma's house (Pink Floyd , The Who ,Kraftwerk, Alan parson but also Herbie Hanckock,Manattan transfer,Yellowjackets an Chick Korea) Other family members were trying to keep him away from electronics because of his reputation, infact he would open and often destroy many appliances only for the taste of discovery...

After 6 years he obtained a degree in digital electronics, he enrolled at the computer engineering University of Naples , he was also playing drums in a progressive rock band and took classic piano lessons.
That's also when he started to use computers to make music, precisely on a software called Fasttracker that used a list of 16 or 32 hexadecimal numbers to represents notes and their length..

Maurizio's musician/programmer skills first entered in the dance music world in 1994 when he co produced in Italy “Deeper and Deeper” a deep Undergound production called Deeper E.P.that in 1995 was approved by Italian Dj Ricky Montanari and then published by Flying Records.

In 1997 he arrived in Miami, South Beach , where the local House scene was still developing and dominated by Italian and French Dj's playing old school, filtered house and Trance in the various clubs : ( Living Room, Bash, Liquid, Kaos,Amnesia).
He collaborate with many local talent Djs .
CHICCO SECCI requests his collaboration in “I”M THE MUSIC TONITE“ , licensed in Italy, UK and France.
After few months , talent producer Dj ROBBIE RIVERA recognizes Maurizio's skills
and starts a series of collaborations that will last more then a year, resulting in more then 30 remixes and two Original productions such as “SAXMANIA ” and “ITALIAN CONNECTION”.

In September2000, the record label HENRY STREET, sub label of STRICTLY RHYTHM, New York, licensed two of his original productions “The Lemon Juice EP vol1 &2).
One of the tracks included in Lemon Juice EP “ON THE WAY TO ” come out on the PROMOONLY UNDERGROUND compilation in SEPTEMBER 2000.
During a series of collaboration with DJ GEORGE MOREL, the headmaster of GrooveOn Records, he worked in a couple of occasion with talent Engineer/Producer ROB RIVES .
When french Dj CEDRIC GERVAIS came to Miami, he requested Maurizio's help to learn how to use music productions softwares and hardware.
Starts a great co-production team that will last more then a year.
With the pseudo 440 CENTRAL he produced, “TALKING ABOUT THE REVOLUTION “ and ”SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR BODY” featuring SHAUNA SOLOMON that was licensed on HYDROGEN UK and CROBAR RECORDS. With the alias PANIC ATTACKERS he produced “ROCK TO THE BEAT” feat ALAN T licenced by STAR 69. Maurizio is also the mastermind behind LENNY KRAVITZ “STILLNESS OF HEART” remix, realized in collaboration with Gervais.

He is now working in studio on a mix compilation and on his new project Moonchild “Breath on me”.
